How much does a boudoir photoshoot cost?

I suppose that all depends on who you are asking: an amateur photographer who is building their portfolio, a photographer that mainly shoots baby pictures and weddings who is willing to try some boudoir shoots on the side, or, are you asking a professional boudoir photography studio with private studio space with multiple sets, hair and makeup artists, fashion designers and photographers that all specialize in intimate portraiture?

Naturally, this question is one of the top ones we get from new clients. For any professional boudoir studio, the short answer is “more than you would probably spend on your family portraits and less than your wedding.” I realize that’s quite a range; and, I also realize you are looking for a simple answer when you ask the question, but there are several factors that contribute to the total investment you will make in your professional boudoir photo session. I find that it is easiest to think about it in two separate parts: the first part is the expense of the shoot itself, and the other is the investment in the images you choose.

Your session expense is a fixed amount and includes all the non-variable costs of your shoot: the studio, staff time, hair and makeup services, and even your digital proof review are all wrapped into this number. For our studio, the session expense is $300 and paid upon booking your day/time.

Image Investment

This is where you have a lot of flexibility, from fully designed wedding-style albums to wall art, digital files, and custom wood print boxes – there are loads of options available to order. The total you will spend on your images is dependent on: a) how many images you want, and b) what photo products you choose. Our basic album is $599, with larger packages and wall art selections available. 

Do I get the digital files?

Absolutely. You get the corresponding digital files for any Heirloom product purchased. For example, if you pick our most popular album package, a 10 x 10 wedding-style album with 34 images, you will also get the high-resolution digital files of those specific images.

What if I just want digital images?

We’re happy to oblige! Digital images are available a-la-carte or as part of one of our packages/

When do I pay for my images?

Other than the booking deposit of $300 to secure your session, you do not have to pay anything until you choose your images and products, immediately following your photo session. Keep in mind that we offer in-house payment plans and a special 0% / No payments for 6 months financing option through PayPal. If you are thinking about the PayPal financing, consider getting pre-approved before your session (call us if you need help – it takes only a minute or two).
